ILOILO City – Fifteen sachets of shabu were confiscated from a drug pushing suspect in Barangay Bacan, Cabatuan, Iloilo.

The 36-year-old Michael Sabio was caught in a buy-bust operation of the Cabatuan police and Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday.

An undercover police officer initially bought from Sabio a sachet of shabu for P500.

Fourteen more sachets were seized from the suspect. These had a total estimated street value of P9,000.

Sabio was detained at the Cabatuan police station. He faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The police have resumed the campaign against illegal drugs after a month of pause upon the order of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Article II, Section 5 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 outlaws the “sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals.”

Methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, is one of the dangerous drugs identified in Article I of the Act./PN
