15 teams compete in PRO-6 regional SWAT challenge

ILOILO City – Fifteen SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) teams across Western Visayas competed in the 2018 Regional SWAT Challenge of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

Eleven teams from the provincial and city police offices from six provinces of the region; two from the Special Action Force (SAF) and one team each from the Philippine Army and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 6 (BJMP-6) joined the competition held at the Firing Range of Camp Delgado on Aug. 15.

The SWAT Challenge aimed to measure and enhance the capability of SWAT units and improve their operational coordination, said Superintendent Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson.

It also aimed to identify the best team that would represent Western Visayas in the national SWAT challenge.

The teams were tested in terms of their skills and capabilities in handling practical and realistic simulation courses.

The SWAT Challenge was among the highlights of the 117th Police Service Anniversary celebration of the PRO-6.

The winners would be announced this week.

Two weeks ago, some personnel of the PRO-6 showcased their talents in music and dancing, as well as presented their various uniforms in an event dubbed “Pasundayag 2018: Mini Concert and CopWalk.”

Held at Robinsons Place Iloilo, the event was also part of the Police Service Anniversary celebration to promote good relationship between the men and women in uniform in Western Visayas and the community. (PNA)
