BACOLOD City β Some 150 vendors of the public market in Barangay Sum-ag were affected by the ongoing market renovation.
According to Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya, the Department of Public Works and Highways allocated about P140 million for the renovation of three satellite public markets here.
The P40 million was allocated to Sum-ag, while the remaining P100 million was granted to the public markets of barangays Granada and Banago.
βThe renovation of the satellite market in Sum-ag would take some time because it will be replaced with a two-storey structure with a parking lot,β Gasataya said.
The rehabilitation of the satellite markets would help decongest the Central, Burgos and Libertad markets in the city, he added.
Meanwhile, Rodney Carmona, punong barangay of Sum-ag, said the affected vendors are scheduled to transfer next week along Villarosa Street.
In the meantime, vendors were situated along Araneta Street because the installation of electricity and roofing on Villarosa was not yet finished, Carmona explained./PN
