BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – The Provincial Office of Agricultural Service (POAS) apprehended the 150 kgs fresh mangoes attempted to enter the Guimaras province last Feb. 28.
Joejin Galvez-Senior Agriculturist and Jessabel Galimba- Agriculturist I of the POAS, the inspectors deployed in Buenavista Wharf apprehended the approximately 150 kilograms of fresh mangoes from Iloilo City. While POAS apprehended the 150 kgs. fresh mangoes, the province of Guimaras also implemented the Provincial Ordinance 2017-006 or Provincial Ordinance No. 2017-006 also known as ‘An Ordinance Declaring the Province of Guimaras as Special Quarantine Zone for Guimaras Mango and Providing Funds thereof. Bringing of mango fruits, seeds, seedlings, or any part thereof into the province of Guimaras by any person or persons for whatever purpose is strictly prohibited.
The said violator was issued with a second offense citation ticket (disallowance of entry of prohibited items with a fine of P2,500.00) for violating Provincial Ordinance 2017-006 under Section 6 of this ordinance./PN
