ILOILO – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) needs 1,500 additional personnel for deployment in the October 30 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).
Police Major Rolando Araño, IPPO spokesperson, said they only have about 2,000 personnel out of the 3,500 needed.
“Indi enough ang aton personnel to cover areas nga deploy-an,” Araño said.
He also said the IPPO may request augmentation from the Regional Joint Security Control Center.
“Gahulat pa gid kita kung ano ang maging desisyon sang Comelec kay kami waiting kon ano ang plan nila, kung san-o ma-deploy, schedule sang Comelec ang amon ginasundan,” Araño added.
The IPPO said the province has been peaceful, and there is no monitoring of intense political rivalry in barangays.
“Subong wala pa man kita area of concern, wala pa kita may na-identify diri sa aton sa province of Iloilo kay kung basihan man abi naton subong ang sitwasyon tama pa man ka normal, malinong pa so hopefully ma-sustain ini until the election day mas mayo,” Araño said.
He noted that police officers whose relatives are aspirants will be reassigned temporarily.
“May ara kita reassignment daw Sept. 28 ini ma-start kay te may mga relatives sila nga mapadalagan this coming BSKE so kinanlan gid nila nga mag saylo anay. After election balik man sila,” Araño stated./PN
