16 illegal fishers caught in Panay

CAPIZ –  Sixteen illegal fishers were apprehended in separate operations of the Bantay Dagay in the waters of Panay, Capiz recently.

According to Panay Municipal Police Station, members of Bantay Dagat first caught boat captain Jimmy Benga-ora, 31 Barangay Butacal, Panay who wasusing active gear called trawl which is illegal.

Also apprehended were Jomar Dequit, 26, boat captain of another fishing vessel, and his crew Danilo Abesado and Joshua Delgado, all are residents of Barangay Natividad, Pilar, Capiz.

They failed to present permits from the municipal government concerned. They were also conducting

‘Panilag’, another type of illegal fishing.

Also nabbed for the same illegal fishing activity were Reynato Andres, Henry Aglinao y Bienie, Ronald Andres, and Jonathan Bienie, all of Barangay Natividad, Pilar, Capiz.

In another separate operation, also caught were boat captain Gary Borres and his crew namely Rodney Barredo, Jovel Amet, and Jenny Borres, also of Barangay Navitas, Panay, Capiz. They used “pukot” which is also illegal and a violation of Municipal Ordinance No. 03-02.

Four more illegal fishers were caught for the same municipal ordinance. They were Jose Gorge Buhat,|oel Beloman, Randy Dela Cruz, an Dionesio Arboleda,  all of Barangay Navitas, Panay, Capiz.

Recovered from the violators were their fishing vessels, fishing paraphernalia, among others.

They were turned over to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office –Panay for the proper disposition of their case. /PN (with a report from Bombo Radyo Roxas)
