ILOILO City – A passenger bus collided with a truck in Barangay Mambatad, Miag-ao, Iloilo yesterday. Seventeen persons were injured, including the bus driver.
All were passengers of the bus plying the route Caticlan, Malay Aklan – Iloilo City. They received treatment at the Miag-ao First Aid Clinic.
The collision happened around 1:30 p.m., according to Chief Inspector Norlan Perante, Miag-ao police chief.
The passenger bus driven by Jay Oberio of Patnongon, Antique was bound for Iloilo City. On the other hand, the truck driven by Roger Arquisal of Libertad, Antique was running in the opposite direction.
Perante said the bus collided with the truck while overtaking a van.
The truck itself was also overtaking a bicycle, revealed Perante.
“Both vehicles were running fast,” according to the police chief.
While Oberio sought treatment at the clinic, the unhurt Arquisal was taken to the Miag-ao police station.
Perante said Arquisal would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to multiple frustrated homicide./PN
