ILOILO – Seventeen high school students are being given the chance to experience first-hand how the provincial government of Iloilo is being run.
As part of the annual Linggo ng mga Kabataan, the provincial government has chosen them to become the youth counterparts of various capitol officials.
They were thoroughly screened, said Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) provincial federation president Ma. Angelica Bianca Requinto.
The students started serving the provincial government on Aug. 28. Their last day as provincial officials is Aug. 31.
“Para ma-intindihan ninyo kun paano nagadalagan ang aton gobyerno (So you would have an idea how government works),” Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. told the students.
Good governance, he stressed, starts with putting the right people in government, he stressed.
“You should be part of that movement. Campaign for clean, fair and honest elections,” said Defensor.
The following are the chosen boys and girls officials of the provincial government:
* Governor – Cleo Baylen of Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High School
* Vice Governor – Allen Dave Evidente of West Visayas State University (Janiuay campus)
* 1st District Provincial Board members – Edelyn Cabaluna of Nalundan National High School in Guimbal and Raymart Eufracio of Oton National High School
* 2nd District Provincial Board members – Albert Tamisen of New Lucena National Comprehensive High School and Cedie Dunlao of Zarraga National High School
* 3rd District Provincial Board members – Rommel Solinap of Mina National High School and Karelee Anne Galve of Janiuay National Comprehensive High School
* 4th District Provincial Board members – John Paul Supapo of Dumangas National High School and Feliz Noemi Grace Espinosa of Iloilo National High School
* 5th District Provincial Board members – Jingkie Pedronio of Barotac Viejo National High School and Chris Bryan Sulayo of Estancia National High School
* Liga ng mga Barangay ex-officio Provincial Board member – Maria Ella Juliana Capanag of Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High School
* Philippine Councilors League ex-officio – Gerald Ermoso of Igbaras National High School
