BACOLOD City – The motorcycle he was driving crashed against a tree along the road in Hacienda Salvacion, Barangay Lopez Jaena, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
The 17-year-old student John Lou Maquilan of Barangay Tamlang, Escalante City, Negros Occidental died of head and body injuries, a police report showed.
Maquilan was rushed to the Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Sagay City where the attending physician pronounced him “dead on arrival.”
The incident happened when Maquilan was negotiating a curve at around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the report stated.
Maquilan’s two back riders – the 17-year-old Peter Jean Clan of Barangay Lopez Jaena and 16-year-old Edilyn Aquia of Barangay Bato, Sagay City – were injured, police said.
Clan and Aquia were also brought to the Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. Memorial District Hospital but later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment.
Maquilan, Clan and Aquia are students of Barangay Tamlang National High School in Escalante City./PN
