18-day feast of Señor Sto. Niño de Kalibo

AKLAN – Kalibo will be celebrating the religious feast of Señor Sto. Niño de Kalibo from Jan. 3 to 21, 2024.

The opening liturgy rite and blessing of instruments in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Jan. 3 will kick start the 18-day “Adlaw-adlaw nga Pagdayaw, Pagpasaeamat, Pagdebosyon, Pagpanaad kay Señor Sto. Niño de Kalibo.”

Barrio chapel visits will begin on Jan. 4 in Sta. Barbara Chapel (Tigayon), Jan. 5 in San Isidro Labrador Chapel (Mobo), and Jan. 6 in San Roque Chapel (Bakhaw Sur).

“Pagbisita ni Sto. Niño sa Baryo” is also scheduled for Jan. 8 in San Lorenzo Diakono Chapel (Linabuan Norte), Jan. 9 in Immaculate Conception Chapel (Estancia), Jan. 10 in San Nepomuceno Chapel (Bakhaw Norte), and Jan. 11 in San Roque Chapel (Tinigaw).

Novena masses in Kalibo Cathedral will be from Jan. 12 to 20, followed by processions around Kalibo Pastrana Park at 6 p.m.

“Pag-umpisa” is set on Jan. 12, and the “Pagdayaw” exhibit of Sto. Nino images will be held on Jan. 3 to 19.

“Paeapak” on Kalibo Cathedral grounds will be on Jan. 12 to 21.

On Jan. 20, a dawn penitential procession along Kalibo Poblacion streets will take place at 4 a.m. followed by a devotees’ mass at 5 a.m.

The Kalibo Sadsad Ati-Atihan contest along the major streets of Kalibo will start at 8 a.m. and the blessing of tribes and pilgrims at 8:30 a.m. onwards.

The blessing of children is slated for 11 a.m. followed by Hornada at 12 noon and Vesper Mass at 5 p.m. to celebrate the “Bisperas it Kapiestahan ni Señor Sto. Niño de Kalibo.”

Pilgrims Mass in Kalibo Cathedral grounds will highlight the “Kaadlawan it Kapiestahan ni Señor Sto. Niño de Kalibo” at 7 a.m. on Jan. 21.

A grand procession at 9 a.m. after the Pilgrims Mass, a religious procession, and torch parade at 3 p.m., and the closing liturgy rite at 9 p.m. will conclude the 18-day religious activities of the Feast of Señor Sto. Niño de Kalibo./PN
