ILOILO City – Swimming turned fatal for an 18-year-old lad in Barangay Baguingin, Tigabuan, Iloilo.
John Anthony Dilig, a resident of the village, drowned in a river around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, a police report showed.
Police investigators said Dilig went swimming with his two friends who the police did not identify at the time.
The friends tried to rescue Dilig after the latter was drawn by strong waves but failed.
Rescuers fished Dilig out of the water early Thursday morning.
Officers of the Tigabuan municipal police station ruled out foul play in the incident./PN
