19-hour brownout in ILECO-1 areas on May 5

ILOILO – There will be a 19-hour power interruption in select areas of the municipalities of Cabatuan, Santa Barbara and Pavia on May 5, according to the Iloilo Electric Cooperative 1 (ILECO-1).

The decades-old transformer of ILECO-1’s power substation in Santa Barbara would be replaced with a new one, according to Mike Paguntalan, the electric cooperative’s manager.

The brownout will be from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m.

After the installation of the new transformer which would take around five hours, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines would conduct a test, said Paguntalan.

By around 1 p.m. or 2 p.m., ILECO-1 may be able to resume delivering power.

“Pero basi bala may mga problema so gin-maximize ta ang time asta sa gabi-i,” said Paguntalan.

A few more areas being served by ILECO-1 would experience power interruption, too, due to a scheduled temporary disconnection and connection of loop of 69kV line at the Santa Barbara power substation. This one is from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Affected areas are portions of the municipalities of Alimodian, Cabatuan, Guimbal, Igbaras, Leon, Maasin, Oton, San Miguel, Santa Barbara, Tigbauan, Tubungan, and Pavia (except Pavia’s barangays Anilao, Cabugao Norte, Pagsanga-an, Poblacion, Tigum, Ungka 1 and 2).
