BACOLOD City – Properties worth P100,000 went up in smoke in Purok Masagana, Barangay 6 yesterday morning.
The fire gutted 19 houses in the village around 9:25 a.m. on March 22.
One of the houses was owned by Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) president Ayesha Joy Villaflor.
Villaflor said she came out together with her father and elder brother from their house as soon as they heard fire alarms outside.
She added a cellular phone was the only thing she had saved.
Based on the Bureau of Fire Protection’s initial report, the blaze started from a house that was made out of light materials owned by Fatima Pagdato.
Firefighters declared a “fire-out” around 10:09 a.m.
Department of Social Services and Development head Pacit Tero, said they provided assistance to the affected families, who are now staying at the barangay chapel.
