19 NPA members surrender in Kabankalan

KABANKALAN CITY, Negros Occidental – Nineteen members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered in Barangay Tapil here on May 11.

They belonged to the South Western Front of the NPA’s Komiteng Rehiyon Negros / Cebu / Bohol / Siquijor (KR-NCBS) operating here and in nearby Ilog town.

“The growing number of surrenders will weaken the NPA in Western Visayas. The five-decade existence of this group spreading havoc in society is enough already. Dapat na silang wakasan,” said Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director.

According to the 19 surrenderers, they wanted to live peacefully already. They were the following:

(1) “Ka Sisa” – medical officer of Section Platoon operating in Ilog

(2) “Ka Jona” – former Yunit Militia member of District Platoon

(3) “Ka Toto” – member of the Political Organizing Team (POT) of District Platoon in Ilog

(4) “Ka Tito – former member of Partisan Unit district platoon in Ilog

(5) “Ka Lito” – former member of Armadong Yunit Pangpropaganda (AYP)

(6) “Ka Cora” – former member of POT

(7) “Ka Francisco” – former member of Yunit Militia

(8) “Ka Arvin” – former member of Yunit Militia

(9) “Ka Jelly” – former member of Yunit Militia

(10) “Ka Camly” – a former member of Yunit Militia

(11) “Ka Butch” – former member of Yunit Militia and collector / messenger

(12) “Ka Robert” – former member of AYP of District Platoon

(13) “Ka Roy” – former member of Yunit Militia

(14) “Ka Tanly” – former member of Section Platoon

 (15) “Ka Dodoy” – Assistant Squad Leader of Squad 1, Southern Negros Front, KR-Negros (SNF-KR-N)

(16) “Ka Michael” – Assistant Squad Leader of Squad 1, SNF-KR-N

(17) “Ka Zordo” – messenger/courier of SNF, KR-N

(18) “Ka Jeseph” – member of AYP

(19) “Ka Ceasar” – member of AYP

“There is no room for terrorists in Western Visayas. Their members should surrender for a better future and we will all live in peace,” said Miranda.

The surrender was facilitated by the Kabankalan City police station, Provincial Intelligence Unit and Provincial Intelligence Team of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, Bacolod City Intelligence Team, 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company, Special Operation Unit Maritime Group and COLT 94th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army./PN
