19-year-old student killed in road crash

SAN JOSE, Antique – A Grade 12 student of St. Anthony’s College died in a vehicular accident in Barangay Cubay-Napultan, Sibalom, Antique, police said.

The 19-year-old Calvin John Agosalim of Barangay Maybato North was driving a motorcycle when a passenger jeepney sideswiped him at Crossing Aldea around 6:40 p.m. on Friday.

Agosalim, not wearing a helmet, sustained serious head injuries.

Agosalim’s back rider and schoolmate – the 18-year-old Eriza Ruby Villamor of Barangay Madrangca – was also injured.

Rescuers brought them to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital in this capital town where Agosalim was pronounced dead.

Villamor was currently under treatment.

According to local reports, Agosalim and Villamor were from their friend’s house in Barangay San Pedro where they had a drinking spree.

Police identified the driver of the jeepney as the 34-year-old John Mark Samoraga, who surrendered after the incident.

Samoraga will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and physical injuries, police said./PN
