BACOLOD City – The first of the 16-day enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in this city was peaceful and orderly, according to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of the BCPO, said around 2,500 law enforcers were deployed in vital installations, strictly checking home quarantine pass (HQP) of persons passing through every checkpoints.
This city has been placed under ECQ since yesterday until April 14 to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019.
Check points are being conducted in several strategic areas here aside from the border checkup areas of the city.
Under the ECQ, the city’s 61 barangays shall issue one HQP to a member of a family of competent age and discretion for each household.
The HQP shall serve as access to the basic needs of the household in purchasing or obtaining the provision for food, health, and other essential commodities.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia reiterated the HQP is not for sale. It will not be transferable and the possessor of such shall carry it at all times while outside the household, with a valid Identification card. He said that abuse in the use of HQP shall be subject to prosecution under applicable laws.
Leonardia said that a daily 24-hour curfew shall be observed by the general public except for individuals with valid HQPs which can be used only from 4 a.m. until 10 p.m./PN
