BACOLOD City – Approximately 2.6 million Negrense voters are anticipated at 5,704 clustered precincts across 662 barangays in Negros Occidental for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) today.
Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, provincial election supervisor of the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Negros Occidental, reported that there are 2,014,726 regular voters and 660,686 SK voters.
He advised them to arrive at their respective polling precincts early, noting that voting will close at 3 p.m.
He also reminded voters not to linger at the polling precincts after casting their ballots to prevent overcrowding.
Regarding the BSKE candidates, Ananoria urged them to accept and respect the election results, whatever they may be.
There are a total of 29,640 BSKE candidates in Negros Occidental: 1,611 are running for barangay captain, 15,612 for barangay kagawad, 1,882 for SK chairman aspirants, and 10,535 for SK kagawad positions.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has assured Negrenses that they can vote securely today.
“We’re good to go. We’re ready for Monday’s elections. All the polling precincts will be manned. We assure the public that the conduct of the elections will be secured,” said NOCPPO director Colonel Leo Pamittan during the sendoff rites for security forces on Friday, Oct. 27.
