ILOILO City – Two armed men in military camouflage disarmed the security guard of a construction company’s batching plant in Barangay Pulo Maestra Vita, Oton, Iloilo on Saturday night.
At around 8:50 p.m. the men barged into the batching plant of Easy Mix Construction Co. and at a gunpoint took the service firearms – a .9mm pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun – of security guard Jojie Java.
The men were speaking in Tagalog and also asked about the plant manager, Java told the Oton police station.
“The suspects escaped through the back portion of the batching plant. But before leaving, one of them fired a gun several times,” said Police Major Gervinson Moyo, Oton police chief.
A Mitsubishi Adventure owned by the company sustained a bullet hole.
As of this writing, the Oton police had not identified the two men.
Moyo believed their motive was to seize firearms but won’t conclude just yet that the men were rebels or criminals.
