BACOLOD City – Two city hall employees here face an investigation. Show-cause orders were issued against them regarding gasoline for government vehicles.
The identities of the two employees as well as the office where they are assigned are being withheld by City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr.
On Oct. 8, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez delivered his first 100-day accomplishment report, and part of it under his campaign on good governance was to restore public trust in the city government.
To build a culture of transparency, discipline and establish a direct communication line with his constituents, the mayor issued Executive Order (EO) No. 1 which establishes the good governance committee.
The said committee ensures prudence and proper documentation of transactions in the offices, particularly the disbursement and liquidation of public funds.
“Through an initial investigation, the good governance committee discovered that fuel trip tickets with corresponding fuel vale slips were charged to ‘unserviceable’ heavy equipment vehicle of the city,” part of the accomplishment report reads.
Ting said the two employees’ show-cause orders were served last week.
The value of the gasoline in question reached about P50,000./PN
