2 Bacolod City villages declared ‘drug-cleared’

BACOLOD City – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) recently declared two barangays here as “drug-cleared” during the Regional Oversight Committee deliberation in Iloilo City.

“These villages were identified as barangays 33 and 37,” said Executive Assistant Sammy Montoyo, adding that the city now has a total of seven “drug-cleared” barangays.

Montoyo recognized the cooperation of the residents who informed authorities of the presence of drug suspects in their areas.

Last August, barangays 15, 17, 18, and 24 here were declared “drug-cleared” with Barangay 5 last year.

The PDEA said the capital city’s barangays are almost 11.48-percent drug-cleared, while at least 16.14 percent of barangays across Negros Occidental were declared free from illegal drugs./PN
