ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas ordered the termination of two job hire employees of the Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office (ICUPAO) for illegally selling the lots of the city’s relocation site.
ICUPAO head Roy Firmeza confirmed that the termination of the two employees – an overall site coordinator and a site coordinator – was effective immediately.
The lots involved were located at the relocation sites in barangays San Isidro and Sambag in Jaro district.
“I would suppose nga may complainants kon ngaa gin-aktuhan. Otherwise kon wala sang complainants kag wala sang ebidensya, indi man na ma-aktuhan dali-dali,” said Treñas.
Relative to this, Treñas emphasized that all applications for the housing program of the city government will be approved by the board.
The board is composed of the ICUPAO, City Legal Office, City Assessor’s Office, Chief of Staff Jonas Bellosillo, Assistant City Administrator Noel Panaguiton, Task Force Asis head Lovejoy Hosenilla, and barangay from where the applicant comes from.
Treñas added that the board, after verification, will submit a recommendation to him for his approval.
Moreover, the city mayor said an investigating committee headed by Atty. GV Cunada will be created to review all awards for the past four years.
“All awards which are not proper or without basis will be annulled, and appropriate criminal and administrative charges will be filed as may be warranted,” he added.
Firmeza welcomed the move of the city mayor to create an investigating committee and a board.
“There may be some changes but we already have a lot of changes since 2019. In fact ang mga na-revert diri nga mga awards since 2019 until today were more than 400, that I would like to vouch sang dedikasyon man sang mga empleyado sang ICUPAO,” he said./PN
