ILOILO City – Taking a day off on the days the Iloilo City Police Office director conducted inspections got two officers in trouble.
Police Officer 1 Leonardo Agaton Jr. and Police Officer 2 Erodino Suarez will be slapped with administrative charges for “neglect of duty,” said Senior Superintendent Martin Defensor, city police director.
Agaton was an augmentation officer detailed at the Molo police station as a patrol office, while Suarez of the Mandurriao police station was detailed at the Iloilo Esplanade.
They were not around when Defensor inspected the officers’ physical appearance and held an accounting of personnel on Nov. 20 and 22. These days were the officers’ rest days.
Agaton and Suarez should have showed up nevertheless, Defensor stressed.
“Ang accounting of personnel is important,” said Defensor. “Dapat nag-report sila kasi madali lang naman, magpakita lang sila.”
He said they gave the two officers a chance to explain but were still unable to respond as of Monday.
After looking into their case the ICPO has decided to “file an administrative case against them for neglect of duty,” Defensor said./PN
