BACOLOD City – Two police officers of the Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station (MPS) were wounded after a buy-bust operation turned into a shootout in Barangay Magallon Cadre.
Police Corporals Victor Leaño and Artemio Napao II were operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET). Leaño had a gunshot wound to his left leg and Napao to his right. Both were treated at the Queen of Mercy Hospital.
The SDET conducted the operation against 35-year-old suspect Jeffrey Cabato around 10:40 p.m. on May 17, according to Moises Padilla MPS chief Major Joevito Bose.
Five grams of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P34,000 as well as drug paraphernalia were recovered.
A manhunt operation against Cabato is still ongoing. Aside from the drug-related charges, the suspect could also face attempted murder charges./PN
