CAPIZ – Two people died in a vehicular accident in Barangay Mianay, Sigma, Capiz.
Motorcycle driver Lawrence Rodico, 22, and backrider Nicole Gonzales, 15, died on the spot.
Nicole’s sibling, Apple, 17, is currently treated at the Mambusao District Hospital.
Rodico was supposed to send his cousins to school on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
Their motorcycle collided with a Toyota Innova from the opposite direction, allegedly attempting to overtake another vehicle, according to Major Leomendo Tayupon, chief of the Sigma Municipal Police Station.
The car driver attempted to flee after the incident, allegedly in fear of the victims’ family, but was identified through the documents recovered from the vehicle.
Suspect Rowelin Biñas Balatayo of Barangay Loctugan, Roxas City claimed he was tired, causing him to lose control of the steering wheel.
Balatayo is now under the custody of Sigma police and will face multiple charges./PN
