2 dead, 1 hurt in shootings

BACOLOD City – Two people were killed while another was injured in two separate shootings in Moises Padilla and Escalante City in Negros Occidental, police said.

In the shooting in Barangay Libertad, Escalante City, the 35-year-old Edmund Guanson of Barangay Paitan in that city died of multiple gunshot wounds on the body.

As of this writing police have yet to identify a suspect and determine the motive in the shooting on April 27.

Investigators recovered from the crime scene two empty shells of a .9mm pistol.

In Barangay Guinpana-an, Moises Padilla, resident Gerry Sagario Torgay, 56, and a companion were fired at while sitting at a variety store at around 4:45 p.m. on April 28, police said.

There were at least four suspects on board two motorcycles – two in each – said Chief Inspector Joshua Villasis, Moises Padilla police head, citing investigation.

Torgay sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the body. An attending physician at the Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Sr. District Hospital in Isabela town pronounced him β€œdead on arrival.”

His companion – fish vendor Leonardo De La Cruz Villagracia, 34, of Barangay Montilla, Moises Padilla – was hit as well.

Villagracia was brought to the same hospital but later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in this city.

Police have yet to identify the suspects as of this writing.
