ILOILO City – A total of 180 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P1.224 million were seized from two high-value suspects during Monday night’s drug buy-bust operation in a hotel on General Luna Street, Barangay Villa Anita, City Proper here.
Paul Bryan Reyes alias “Nonoy”, 24, a resident of Barangay Sambag, Jaro district, and Mario Sabidong Jr. alias “Toto”, 27, of Landheights Subdivision, Barangay Quezon, Arevalo district, were arrested by joint operatives of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6) and Iloilo City Police Station 1 after selling P30,000 worth of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer.
Police also recovered the suspects’ car and other non-drug items.
“We have been conducting surveillance for more than a week and when we were able to get an asset, we immediately staged a drug operation,” Lieutenant Glenn Solima, team leader of RDEU-6, said in an interview.
Intelligence report further revealed that the suspects had suppliers from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City through the Happy Go Lucky group whose leaders are composed of Ilonggos.
“We are checking this information kay basi naga-name dropping sila. Actually, their supplies arrived last Saturday through RoRo ship. Then the stock will be kept in La Paz district,” Soliman added.
The suspects are now detained at the Iloilo City Police Station 1 and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
