ILOILO City – A farmer from Carles, Iloilo and another from Bingawan town were arrested for alleged possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, police reports showed.
Leoncio Bendoy of Barangay Bolo, Carles and Alberto Castor, 36, of Barangay Ngingi-an Ilaya, Bingawan were taken to the police stations in their respective municipalities.
The Carles police searched the house of Bendoy at 6 a.m. on Saturday.
They found inside a .45 pistol, 35 ammunition of an M16 and five empty shells of an M16.
On the other hand, Castor was arrested at 10 a.m. on Aug. 23 after the Bingawan police also searched his house.
Officers found two live ammunition for a 12-gauge shotgun and a black holster.
Bendoy and Castor face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
