BORACAY – Sex on the white-sand beach here is a no-no — and foreigners are no exception.
Two foreign tourists were arrested for allegedly having sex at the beachfront in Station 2, Barangay Balabag.
An Immigration officer, Aldwin Pascua, caught the foreigners — both naked — around 2:20 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18.
The Britain national identified only as “Irene,” 44, was on top of the Italian national “Steffano,” Pascua told the police.
Pascua tried to “stop [them from] doing the act,” but the foreigners “went farther [toward] the shoreline and waived their hands [as if] trying to tease the Immigration officer,” said the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center (BTAC).
The foreigners met hours earlier and had a few drinks. They were facing charges for grave scandal, the BTAC said.
Under Article 200 of the Philippine Penal Code, grave scandal is “the performance or doing any act which is highly scandalous as to offend against decency and good custom.”
Steffano was staying in a small resort in Station 2, while Irene was checked in a resort along the main road at Station 1, investigation showed.
Five years ago a national television crew filmed a naked couple allegedly having sex at the beach here during a New Year’s party.
The Department of Tourism had urged the establishments to post signs telling their guests “to be happy and enjoy while on the island” but do certain activities privately in hotel rooms. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
