ILOILO City – Police stations in Buenavista and Jordan towns in the island province of Guimaras have received a new patrol car each from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Officers believe the new vehicles will enable them to improve their visibility and response to crimes and emergencies.
Serving a huge town like Buenavista, the police will now have better mobility with the new patrol car, according to Senior Police Officer 4 Noel Gallo of the municipal police station.
It was learned that the Buenavista police station has two existing patrol cars but only one is functional.
Evidently one patrol vehicle is not enough for the officers to make the rounds across town, especially when there are simultaneous occasions like fiestas, said Gallo.
Aside from patrolling, they may also use the new vehicle in responding to emergencies, like vehicular crashes, Gallo added.
Meanwhile Senior Police Officer 4 Rowena L. Garcia said the new vehicle will enable to the Jordan police station to reach out to the public better.
“We can respond to incidents faster. We can serve the public for whatever they need faster,” said Garcia.
Present at the turnover of the new patrol vehicles on Sept. 14 were Deputy House Speaker Sharon Garin (AAMBIS-Owa party-list) and Vice Gov. Christine Garin./PN
