2 hurt in ‘dance’ commotion

ILOILO City – A commotion at a benefit dance in Barangay Buhay, Alimodian, Iloilo left a man and a barangay tanod injured.

Jelbert John Chichirita, 21, of Barangay Salacay, Cabatuan sustained a gunshot wound on his left leg.

Jerson Anas, 46, a village watchman of Buhay, also had a gunshot wound.

The shooting happened around 12:45 a.m. on Aug. 17.

Two suspects have been identified – the Arguelles brothers Bryan, 22, and Romulo, 20. Both were residents of Barangay Buhay.

According to Police Officer 2 Michael Alingalan of Alimodian, it was a case of petty misunderstanding that went out of hand.

Chichirita allegedly left the dance floor and went to a nearby store. Romulo followed him and hit him there.

Chichirita’s cousin, Paul Keneth Ceballos came over to help him.

An allegedly armed Bryan joined the fracas and shot Chichirita on a leg.

Police said Anas may have been hit by a stray bullet.

The suspects were arrested. They face attempted or frustrated homicide charges./PN
