2 injured in Oton road collision

ILOILO – Three vehicles crashed, leaving two people injured on J.C. Zulueta Street, Oton town around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.

The driver of the Toyota Wigo was Michael Arnaiz, 27, a resident of Bugasong, Antique and temporarily residing in Barangay Buhang, Jaro, Iloilo City. He admitted to the police that he slightly dozed off while driving and collided with another car and a tricycle.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Avanza was driven by Kairus Penachos, 45, a resident of Bacolod City but temporarily residing in Barangay Buray, Oton. His wife Shelamar suffered a heart attack after protecting their child who sustained a head injury, Oton police said.

Tricycle driver Albert Camayra, 43, a resident of Sitio Baras, Barangay Trapiche, Oton, also suffered an injury to his left arm and was brought to the Guimbal District Hospital.

In an interview with Panay News, Police Corporal Raymund Dollete said Arnaiz was from Antique province and was on his way to Iloilo City.

“Gin-ako man sini sang driver sang Wigo nga napiyungan siya (kay) halin ni siya sa Antique papuli na tani sa Buhang, Jaro. Nabunggoan ya ni ang Avanza kag nalab-ot ang tricycle, Dollete said.

Arnaiz was taken into custody by the Oton Municipal Police Station./PN
