BACOLOD City – Police are on a manhunt for two inmates of the Negros Occidental District Jail (NODJ) in the province’s Bago City who bolted out of their cells early Monday morning.

Jail Chief Inspector Norberto Miciano Jr., warden of the NODJ, identified the two escapees as Jimmy Sablon, a resident of Barangay Robles, La Castellana town; and Ramonito Ventura, a resident of Barangay Buenavista, Murcia town.

According to the jail warden, Sablon has been charged with frustrated murder while Ventura was facing charges of robbery and illegal possession of firearms.

As what the NODJ investigators gathered so far, the two inmates destroyed one of the grills of their jail dormitory and bolted out around 4 a.m.

Guards discovered the breakout around 6 a.m. while they were conducting a routine headcount.

Miciano said they immediately visited the two escapees’ families and relatives in their respective hometowns.

A reward of P10,000 was offered to anyone who could provide information to the whereabouts of the two escapees.

Miciano added they also warned the inmates’ families and relatives not to help the two, otherwise they will also face criminal charges./PN
