BACOLOD City – Two inmates escaped from the Negros Occidental District Jail (NODJ) in Barangay Abuanan, Bago City early Sunday morning.
The inmates were identified as Ramon Ventura Jr., 20, and Vercilito Capulong, 26.
Ventura was transferred to the NODJ in 2015 for a carnapping case, while Capulong was charged with illegal possession of firearms.
Jail officials were making rounds when they noticed the two inmates were missing, said Chief Inspector Ruth Estales, district jail warden.
They did a head count and confirmed Ventura and Capulong were gone.
Initial investigation showed the inmates used a ladder, left behind by workers, to escape the detention facility.
Manhunt operations are ongoing against the two inmates as of this writing.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology national headquarters was already informed about the escape. (ABS-CBN News)
