PASSI, City – A vehicular accident in Brgy. Agtabo here left two dead and 30 others hospitalized.
Jeepney passengers Rodalyn Quitane, 36, and Paterno Padillo, 60, both of Brgy. Delicanan, died while being treated at the hospital here. They succumbed to head and body injuries.
Thirty other passengers were confined in various hospitals in Iloilo City.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m., according to Passi City police chief, Supt. Hector Maestral.
The passenger jeepney owned and driven by Delicanan barangay captain Artemio Isare lost its break while heading towards the town proper.
Aside from the passengers, the jeepney was also loaded with 30 sacks of rice.
Upon reaching the upper portion of Brgy. Agtabo, Isare lost control of the speed due to faulty brakes. The overloaded passenger jeepney rolled down.
The driver sustained only minor injuries. He surrendered to the Passi City police station./PN
