2 men killed in separate Sagay City shootings

BACOLOD City – Two separate shooting incidents in Sagay City, Negros Occidental led to the death of two men on Saturday.

Sagay City police head Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez Jr. identified the victims as the 61-year-old Norberto Tambanillo of Sitio Inangtan, Barangay Makiling, Sagay City and 30-year-old Eleazar Grandoci of Purok Manara, Barangay Puey, Sagay City.

Tambanillo was shot to death in Purok Bagong Lipunan, Barangay Bato around 8 a.m. on Jan. 12, a police report showed.

Police identified the suspect as Sitio Bagong Lipunan resident Jessie Sabio.

Sabio allegedly fired at Tambanillo three times on the body using a .357-caliber gun, police said.

Tambanillo, who fled on board a motorcycle after the shooting, remains at large as of this writing.

Police were looking into old grudge as the motive Sabio’s death.

Grandoci, on the other hand, was shot past 2 p.m. later that day in Barangay Puey.

An unidentified suspect fired at Grandoci while he was on his way home on board a motorcycle.

Grandoci sustained a gunshot wound on the stomach.

Police have yet to establish the motive in the shooting. They were also still identifying the gunman./PN
