BACOLOD City – Police arrested two spider vendors at Burgos Market in Barangay 19.
They were residents 65-year-old Fernando Policarpio and 50-year-old Emma Gutierez, a police report showed.
Personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Enforcement and Monitoring Section conducted an inspection in the market on July 23, which led to the arrest of Policarpio and Gutierez.
Recovered from their possession were 533 live spiders.
The suspects were detained and charged for violation of Republic Act 9147, or Section 27 of the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act./PN
