ILOILO – Two barangays in Miag-ao, Iloilo are under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Mayor Macario Napulan issued Executive Order No. 2020-046, placing barangays Ubos Ilaya and Ubos Ilawod under strict lockdown for two weeks beginning Thursday.
“Within ina sila sa 500 meters radius halin sa critical zone or balay sang call center agent nga nag-positive sa COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019),” Napulan explained.
While under MECQ, the two barangays would be disinfected, according to Napulan. This would also give the Municipal Health Office (MHO) time to conduct contact tracing.
Napulan said nine close contacts of the infected call center agent of IQOR have so far been traced, including her husband.
“Ang ulihi namon nga nag-positive nagpauli tapos gin-swab kag nag-positive then ang iya bana nag-manifest sang flu-like symptoms,” the mayor added.
To preempt possible transmission, Napulan further placed the call center agent’s house under ECQ.
“Gina-advisan [naton] ang naga-istar nga mga tawo sa balay sa pagsunod sang minimum public health standards at all times and all household members to observed strict home quarantine,” said Napulan.
As of Aug. 13, Miag-ao recorded a total of 16 confirmed COVID-19 cases, seven of which were active, eight recovered and one died.
The seven active cases were comprised of two overseas Filipino workers, three call center agents, one locally stranded individual and one fisherman from Palawan./PN
