ILOILO City – Over the past two months, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has successfully seized shabu valued at approximately P80 million and arrested 462 suspects.
The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) spearheaded the efforts, confiscating shabu worth P25 million.
It was followed by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), which seized P21 million worth of shabu, and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) with seizures totaling P18 million.
The operations included a series of 352 coordinated activities targeting drug trafficking networks.
The campaign extended to apprehending individuals involved in other illegal activities. A total of 1,096 suspects were arrested for various crimes, including 888 charged with lesser offenses and 174 caught from the Top 10 most wanted list in the region.
Law enforcement also intensified efforts against illegal firearms, resulting in the seizure of 663 weapons and the arrest of 110 individuals across 675 operations.
Illegal gambling raids led to the arrest of 837 suspects in 242 operations, while enforcement against illegal fishing practices saw 458 arrests in 140 operations.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, regional police director, emphasized the collective effort of his team and the need to persist in these initiatives.
“These two months of accomplishments are a testament to the hard work of my team who have diligently executed our strategies against illegal activities. We will continue to push forward and increase our efforts to maintain peace in the region,” said Wanky who assumed as PRO-6 director just this Feb. 15, promising to tackle crime and ensure safety across Western Visayas./PN
