Two rebels from the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in an encounter with government forces at Purok Yuring, Sitio Dash 7, Brgy Bulwangan, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental on Saturday, April 17.
A 40-minute firefight ensued between the Army’s 15th Infantry Battalion and NPA members allegedly from Platoon 3, the Southwest Front of KR-NCBS.
Soldiers moved forward against the enemy forces until they were scattered, leaving their dead behind.
No casualties were reported among government forces.
Several items were gathered after the fight including two .45 caliber pistols with magazines and ammunition, extortion letters, documents, cellphones, and other personal belongings.
