ROXAS City – Barangay Banica here has been cited as champion and Hall of Fame awardee during the 2022 Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod Awards for Outstanding Group Tanod – Cities Category in the whole Western Visayas.
The award was given during the 31st Local Government Month celebration of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 6 on Oct. 25.
The city’s Barangay Lawaan was also picked as regional winner for the 2022 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) – Component Cities Category.
“Isa ka daku nga kadungganan ang gindala sa Roxas City sang barangays Banica kag Lawaan nga nangin regional winners sa ginhiwat nga 2022 Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod and Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards,” Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said.
Meanwhile, Edwin H. Vasquez, a tanod of Barangay Banica, was recognized as Outstanding Individual Tanod.
The awards recognized the perseverance and dedication of barangay tanods and lupons in keeping their communities peaceful and orderly, according to DILG-6.
It was one of the highlights of the 31st Local Government Code Anniversary celebration themed “Lakas ng Lokal: Trailblazing Innovations and Collaboration in Local Governance”.
Winners in the municipality, city, and individual categories received plaques, tarpaulins, certificates, and cash incentives.
Police Regional Office (PRO-6) regional director, Police Brigadier General Leo M. Francisco, who was the guest of honor during the awarding ceremony, acknowledged the risks and dangers barangay tanods face as frontliners and recognized the efforts and dedication they exert on a daily basis.
He also highlighted the decrease in crime volume due to the settlement in the Lupong Tagapamayapa level as they amicably handle various cases, which, in turn, allows the Philippine National Police to focus on high-value targets./PN
