ROXAS City – Two separate fire incidents in this city displaced a total of 11 families.

The first happened in Sitio Plaridel, Barangay Cagay on June 3. Seven houses were totally burned and one was partially damaged, displacing a total of eight families.

Initial investigation of the Roxas City Fire Station showed that electrical short circuit caused the fire in one of the houses.

But a more thorough probe will be conducted. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) sent debris samples to their national office for examination.

The fire victims temporarily took shelter at the Plaridel Relocation in Barangay Cagay.

Three more families were displaced after their houses were razed by another fire around 8 p.m. on June 4 in Barangay Cogon, also in this city.

According to reports, the fire originated from the house of 40-year-old Oliver “Dodong” Casador.

Casador, a fisherman, reportedly went home only to find out that his wife was not around.

He got mad upon learning that his wife went to a “binayle” in nearby Sapian town.

Allegedly under the influence of liquor, he torched their house.

From their house, the fire crept towards two adjacent houses. The damage to the three houses, which were made of light materials, was estimated at P50,000.

No injuries were reported

Mayor Ronnie Dadivas ordered that P5,000 cash assistance be released to each affected family./PN
