2 San Remigio barangays locked down due to rising COVID cases

SAN REMIGIO, Antique – Two villages here are on granular lockdown – Barangay Poblacion and Barangay Trinidad.

The lockdown started on July 26 and it would last until Aug. 9.

Mayor Margarito Mission Jr. issued Executive Order No. 044 for such, citing the sudden surge in cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the two villages.

Last week, the town recorded 18 new infections and most of these were in the two barangays.

Mission stressed the need to stop the infections from spreading and avert the possibility of overwhelming healthcare facilities and staff.

The following are now being observed in Barangay Poblacion and Barangay Trinidad:

* limited movement of the population (minimize travel outside the home, especially if sick)

* returning residents and authorized persons outside residence must self-quarantine for five days upon arrival

* returning residents must report within 12 hours upon arrival to their barangay health worker

* wear face coverings around people when it is necessary to leave the home

* wash hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitize, especially after touching frequently used items or surfaces

* disinfect frequently-used items and surfaces

As of July 26, San Remigio had 22 active COV ID-19 cases./PN
