ILOILO City – Two Pharmacy graduates of the University of San Agustin topped the recent licensure examination for pharmacists.

Stella Rowse Gustilo was Top 4 with a rating of 93.15 while Jea Belle Anuales Jinon was Top 6 (92.75 rating).

The exam results were released on March 14.

“I felt overwhelmed and blessed. Gapasalamat gid ako kay God,” said Gustilo.

She studied hard and prayed a lot to top the exam, she revealed.

She actually aimed for a Top 5 finish.

Gustilo thanked her university for equipping her with the knowledge to become a licensed pharmacist. She was also grateful to her supportive family and classmates.

Gustilo paid tribute to her mother Rowena, a registered nurse who went into business.

“I wanted to make her proud of me. She sacrificed a lot,” she said.

Rowena said she cried when she heard that her daughter topped the exam.

“Indi ko ma-explain. Nagatulo ang akon luha pero deep inside manami gid ang pamatyag, happy gid,” said the mother.

Jinon, on the other hand, said she only wanted to pass the exam. She was “shocked” to be the Top 6.

The topnotcher’s mother is Dr. Epifania Jinon, a family doctor in Leganes, Iloilo.

According to Jinon, it was her mother who suggested that she took up Pharmacy in college.

She plans to take the National Medical Admission Test and hopefully enroll in medical school.

A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) was the exam’s Top 1. Rhys Jansen Pavon bested the other 2,425 examinees. He had a 94.73 rating.

A total of 3,732 examinees took the exam this month./PN
