BACOLOD City – Two schools in Bacolod City are now implementing limited face-to-face (F2F) classes in consideration of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) situation. These are the Alangilan National High School and the Apolinario Mabini Elementary School.

It was reported that there were about 30 schools in the city requested approval from the Sangguniang Panlungsod to hold the F2F classes.

Doctor Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data analysis and management of the Emergency Operations Center(EOC) disclosed that the EOC in coordination with the Local School Board(LSB)and the City Mayor’s Office(CMO) recommend the school for F2F classes if they

meet the requirements.

“Because we want to consider it with caution,” he said.

The city requires that all schools must implement the Bacolod City COVID-19 Contact Tracing (BaC-Trac), and all that will attend the F2F classes are all vaccinated for COVID-19 vaccines, including the teachers and the non-teaching personnel, Sorongon also said.

He further said that the Department of Education (DepEd) has set also its requirements and guidelines before a school will hold the F2F classes.

Sorongon explained that a school can only conduct the classes if they had no COVID-19 case for the last 20 days. “If in the middle of the implementation that there will be one in school infected by the virus, the classes will stop, “Sorongon said./PN
