MANILA – Two fishermen from Sipalay City, Negros Occidental were still missing as of Sunday, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.

Dolatoy Sumde, 27, and Jezrel Valencia, 32, went fishing at the vicinity waters of Sipalay City and Cagayancillo, Palawan last week.

They were onboard FB Ramil when they went missing on Feb. 14, according to Coast Guard spokesperson Armand Balilo.

FB Ramil departed from Sipalay City on Feb. 8, a report by the Coast Guard substation in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental showed.

But Sumde and Valencia failed to return as expected on Valentine’s Day.

Hinigaran substation personnel then staged a search and rescue operation along with the substation in Cagayancillo.

Coastguards continue searching for the fishermen as of press time.

Balilo said they already asked the fisherfolk in Sipalay City and the southernmost town of Hinoba-an to report to the Coast Guard the sighting of the missing fishers and to provide the necessary immediate help./PN
