2 soldiers killed in Sipalay ambush

BACOLOD City – Two Philippine Army soldiers were ambushed by a group of armed individuals in Sitio Camboguiot, Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental yesterday morning.

Sergeant Regie Glendro and Staff Sergeant  Ken Camilan, intelligence operatives of the 47th Infantry Battalion based in the neighboring town of Candoni, died.

According to the Sipalay City police, the two soldiers were conducting reconnaissance operation in the area.

They died “on the spot”, police added.

The Philippine Army’s 302nd Infantry Brigade (302IBde) has yet to release a statement if the incident was committed by the New People’s Army rebels./PN
