2 street-level drug suspects yield P34K ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – Two street-level drug pushing suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Zone 7, Barangay Camalig, Jaro district around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7.

Six sachets of suspected shabu valued at around P34,000 were seized from Roque Ramos, 48, of the aforementioned barangay, and George Mosquera, 41, of Barangay Lanit, Jaro.

Officers of the Jaro police station also recovered two digital weighing scales, a bundle of empty plastic sachets, and other drug paraphernalia.

Police Captain Lester Oliveros, chief of the Jaro police station, said in an interview with Radyo Bandera Iloilo that the suspects’ supply came from areas near the Jaro Big Market and Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district.

“Bale duha ini ang gin kuhaan nila, sa tinda sang Jaro kag ginatabuk-tabok nila didto sa Bakhaw,” said Oliveros.

He added, “Grupohay ini ang duha naton ka arestado, tapos gabuliganay sila baligya, kun kis-a dira lang na sa karsada. Kun may parokyano sila ginadul-ong lang nila sa may karsada.”

In an interview, Ramos denied that he was selling shabu but admitted using it.

Mosquera, meanwhile, admitted selling shabu for two months already because of poverty.

The suspects were detained at the Jaro police station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
