BACOLOD City – Two teenagers drowned in the waters of Purok Mahidaiton in Bago City’s Barangay Sampinit on Sunday.
Police identified the fatalities as Jimuel Padilla and Lean Flor.
Three other teens – Judy Mar Demere, Jeboy Vergara and Elmer John Alvarado – survived.
According to the Bago City police, around 8:30 a.m. the five friends went for a swim, however they failed to notice that the tide was rising fast and they got caught by the sea current.
Demere, Vergara and Alvarado were fortunately swept in shallow waters and escaped.
However, both Padilla and Flor were swept to a deeper portion of the sea. The three survivors immediately called for help from residents in the area.
A search and rescue operation was immediately initiated and both Padilla and Flor were rushed to the Bago City Hospital where they were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician./PN
