MALAY, Aklan – The two most wanted persons in Aklan province, hiding for 25 years, ran out of luck.
They were arrested by policemen around 7 a.m. yesterday in Brgy. Kabulihan here.
The suspects were Johnny Magliquian, 49, of said place and Feliciano Galay of Brgy Caticlan.
Combined personnel of Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO), Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) and Malay police station went to the house of Magliquian and served his arrest warrant for the crime of murder issued by Judge Mario Guarina of the Regional Trial Court (RTC). Then they proceeded to Galay’s house.
APPO director, Senior Supt. Samuel Nacion said the two were suspected of hacking and stabbing to death 16-year-old Arnold Bautista 23 times sometime in 1989 in Caticlan or 25 years ago. They went hiding since then.
Magliquian is the No. 5 while Galay is the No. 8 most wanted in the province of Aklan.
Magliquian and Galay, along with four other suspects, reportedly blocked Bautista who was on his way home at that time.
The took turns in killing the victim.
After several years, their four companions surrendered and settled the case while Magliquian and Galay hid in diverse places.
Nacion said it was because of an information that the two had come back to their houses that they took the chance to arrest them.
Magliquian and Galay are now detained at the Malay police station jail./PN
