ILOILO City – Two women were robbed while busy bargain hunting at an ukay-ukay in Barangay North Fundidor, Molo district.
Vic-lestie Anguit, 22, and Lorilyn Adang, 22, lost a total of P17,500 cash and a mobile phone.
The two worked as collectors of LOG Lending Inc., a money lending company based in Barangay Balabago, Jaro district.
The women took time out from their work to shop at an ukay-ukay stall around 4:30 p.m. on August 11 when robbed.
Anguit was a resident of Dipolog City and a stay-in employee of LOG Lending Inc. while Adang was originally from Zamboanga del Norte.
There were three holdup men and they had guns, they told the Molo police station.
The robbers fled using a black motorcycle toward Barangay Compania, Molo, the women said.
It was unclear if there were other customers when the robbery took place at the ukay-ukay.
Ukay-ukay stalls are usually full of bargain hunters. They are the country’s version of the flea market. Second-hand clothes, bags, shoes, etc. are sold but usually not arranged or placed in hangers. Shoppers would literally dig and turn them over./PN
